I’ve taught this to high school seniors the past two years so it’s definitely been On My Mind a lot. I’m thrilled to hear people talking about it because like you all say, it’s so relevant and so complex. For the record, teenagers mostly agree that the Duke is a piece of shit but they had NO sympathy for Claudio once he flips and tells Isabella, “Let me live!” They’re on Isabella’s side when she tells him to go to hell. Also, they don’t have any sympathy for Angelo either. They see that he is an earnest guy but they just think he’s pathetic. It’s super engaging for kids and I can’t imagine it remaining little-known for much longer.
