Coming up:
Next week, Sara and Chelsey will be starting off their spring season with an episode filled with tips on reading Jane Austen in the lead up to their Pride and Prejudice episodes. This novel has so much going on that their discussion of the book itself will bridge over two episodes, with a discussion on chapters 1-34 on March 9th and the remainder of the novel plus pairings dropping on March 23rd.
In between all the Austen celebrations, Chelsey and Sara will be sharing some anticipated spring releases they’re looking forward to on March 16th. As always, they hope you’ll hear some titles that may not have been on your radar!
Patreon update:
The Novel Pairings Patreon, affectionately called the Classics Club, will launch on Monday, March 1st. As a subscriber to this newsletter, you’ll be the first to hear the launch details and will get a link to the Patreon delivered to your inbox on the 1st.
Through Patreon, Chelsey and Sara will be offering four bonus podcast episodes each month, input on novels covered on the podcast, and a bookish community as excited to discuss classic literature as you are! March’s bonus episodes will include an episode all about Regency customs and a discussion of Chelsey and Sara’s favorite Austen adaptations. At the $8/month level, you’ll also get a monthly book club meeting and a monthly class taught by Chelsey and Sara. March’s class will be an Intro to Austen class and the book club will, of course, be discussing Pride and Prejudice.
Keep an eye on your inbox on Monday, March 1st for more news and sign-up info! We can’t wait to have you as part of the Club!
Currently reading:
I recently finished The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins on audio. This is a modern retelling of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre and I’m now inspired to go back and re-read this classic! Since I’m in a Jane Eyre mood, I might also pick up Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys next, as well.
Last month, I also read Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo. I loved this one even more than I thought I would and even though it looks big and daunting, it’s actually a very quick read.
Where to find us:
Download episodes of Novel Pairings wherever you get your podcasts. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Check out our blog for bonus pairings, reading tips, and book recommendations. We declare after all, there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book!

I’m listening to your Feb. 23 podcast and enjoying your recommendations, as usual. I wanted to say that I paired Deesha Philyaw’s short story collection, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies (which I learned of from your podcast) with Zora Neale Hurston’s short story collection, Hitting a Straight Lick with a Crooked Stick. Both were great and paired well.
