Reading with Alice and Anne and Aslan this spring
"Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive–it’s such an interesting world."
Welcome to 2023, readers! This year marks our first J-Term (reading Not Without Laughter by Langston Hughes) and ushers in endless possibilities for literary conversations. Today, we are sharing our spring semester preview on the main feed. Download the episode wherever you get your podcasts.
We were nervous to share our spring line-up with our Patreon community because it is entirely different from our usual fare, but we should not have spent any time fretting. Their excitement is contagious!
Over the next few months, we will be reading classic children’s literature. Since most children’s books are so short, we get to read more than one per month with you and sprinkle in seasonal book previews. We cannot wait!
Here are a few links to get primed for our upcoming content:
A library guide to genre in children’s literature.
The best children’s books of 2022.
and a few more.
We will share more detailed spring semester calendars soon. In the meantime, it is not too late to join us for J-Term! This month we are reading and discussing Not Without Laughter by Langston Hughes, plus his debut poetry collection: The Weary Blues.
On Wednesday January 18th @ 7 pm EST on Zoom, we will share how and why to pay attention to an author's voice, style, and tone while reading. This is an excellent class to attend whether or not you're reading along with us this month and will apply to your contemporary reading just as much as the classics. We hope to see you there!
Join the coziest, nerdiest community on the internet. We are so excited to learn with you this year!
Happy 2023 Reading, everyone.
