New episode! The Summer Book by Tove Jansson
Hey, listeners!
Of course we love revisiting old favorites on Novel Pairings, but there’s also something truly special about finding a classic that is entirely new to both of us. The Summer Book by Tove Jansson is one of those rare gems that we may have never discovered on our own, and are so glad to have found. This episode is completely spoiler free and we spend quite a bit of time discussing what sorts of readers we think would like this book, so it’s a great one to listen to before, during, or after a read of The Summer Book.

Coming up:
Next week is the the summer edition of our Short Story Club. This season, we’re reading and discussing “The Prairie Wife” by Curtis Sittenfeld. It’s a great read for anyone who loves Sittenfeld’s novels or readers who’ve been curious about her work. (Content warnings for homophobia and frank depictions of sexual situations.)
Then on Tuesday, July 20th, we’re sharing our favorite books of the year so far. We love reflecting back on our reading lives and we can’t wait to share some excellent reads with you!
In case you missed it, we shared our summer selections on IGTV and in an Instagram post.
Currently reading:
Sara is listening* to Nobody Will Tell You This But Me by Bess Kalb and just started reading a paper copy of History of the Rain by Niall Wilson (it’s a great book for book lovers!). Chelsey is home in Wisconsin and intentionally packed zero books so she could choose something from her mom’s shelves. She’s looking forward to some spontaneous reading!
