NEW Episode: Anticipated Fall 2020 Reads and backlist books
PLUS Nancy Drew and The Mystery at Lilac Inn
Hi, listeners!
We’re back to topple your TBRs with highly anticipated fall releases and backlist books. These episodes are so much fun to record, and we always end up adding books to our own library holds lists. There are about 60 titles mentioned in today’s episode, so be sure to visit our show notes at novelpairings.com or our shop at Bookshop.org to find full lists of every book we talked about.
Head over to the SSR Podcast today for even more book talk! We joined Alli to talk about a WILD Nancy Drew mystery novel and had so much fun dishing about a not-too-serious classic throwback.
Here’s our collection of links for the week:
Pair these wine-centric novels with a good vintage (and for more book & wine pairings, check out our episode with Jamise Harper of @spinesvines)
I think we’re about to see a TON of Gatsby retellings…

Coming up:
Next week, we’re discussing Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich, “a book we wish we read in high school.” It’s a stunning and sprawling intergenerational family story, and I can’t wait to hear what Sara thinks about it. We also have another big recommendations episode coming up in September, so leave a little room on your TBR list for a Campus Novel or two.
Currently Reading:
I’ve been listening* to Bahni Turpin narrate Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi, and it is SO GOOD. Turpin is one of my favorite narrators. I’m also reading Recommended for You by Laura Silverman, a book I mention in today’s episode. And here are a few books that are staring at me from my TBR pile:
The Other Typist by Suzanne Rindell (I grabbed this one from the library after Sara paired it with Gatsby)
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (I know. I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet, either!)
The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon (Because there’s no such thing as too many rom-coms on my TBR)
