NEW EPISODE: All Summer in a Day
Hey there, listeners!
We’re so excited for this week’s episode—an installment of The Short Story Club on Ray Bradbury’s “All Summer in a Day.” Bradbury is known as one of the greats of modern science fiction and this famous short story has been part of many middle schools’ curriculums for some time now. Although “All Summer in a Day” is set in a futuristic society on Venus, its characters and themes are still very much relatable today.

Coming Up:
Next week, we’ll be releasing an episode on Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. This is the first episode where we discuss a book neither of us had previously finished, and we loved discussing the formidable and romantic Janie Crawford.
Following that on July 28th, we’ll drop our interview with Jamise Harper of @spinesvines and @diversespines. This episode is SO FUN. Jamise is an avid reader and an incredible champion for the books she loves. During our chat, she told us all about what it’s like to interview famous authors like Jasmine Guillory and she offered a few “novel pairings” of her own by pairing some of her favorite books with just the right wine. We can’t wait for you to listen to this one!
Currently Reading:
This week I finished One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London. It’s about a plus-size influencer who agrees to go on a Bachelor-type show called Main Squeeze in order to advance her career. It was a really fun romance that hit hard on size inclusiveness and the horrific bullying and shaming that happens online and in life. I love a book that manages to be both sweet and thought-provoking, and I also loved the structure of the book, which included things like podcast transcripts, text exchanges, and articles from people watching and commenting on Main Squeeze. It was so clever!!
After I finished listening* to Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo, I picked up Beheld by TaraShea Nesbit. I hadn’t heard much about this one, but I have it in mind as a possible pairing for a fall episode…yes, that might be a hint about what we have on deck this fall!
