Hello, listeners!
This week, we’re taking a break from recording (and there’s no new episode) to get ready for our fall season AND to introduce the Novel Pairings Blog! The blog will be our home for show notes, book lists, and additional bookish content. We’re so excited to share it with you today. Here are a few posts to get you started:
Michelle shares four bonus pairings for Emma by Jane Austen
Sara shares five upstairs-downstairs novels to read with The Remains of the Day
And I have five tips for reading classic literature
Plus, we have our backlog of show notes posted (thank you, Michelle!). Take a look at our Comfort Classics episode, or the more recent Quarterly Favorites of Summer.

Coming Up:
Next week, we’re launching our fall season with an episode on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. We have a LOT to say about this iconic staple in high school English classrooms. To find out more about our fall season, listen to our preview episode: On Campus with Novel Pairings.
Currently Reading:
I just picked up The Break by Katherena Vermette, a story told in shifting perspectives about a young Métis mother who witnesses a possible crime, and the community members who deal with the fallout. I’m also reading romance (as always). My current read is perfect for fans of the Veronica Speedwell series. August was a hectic month, and so far September is proving to be the same. I’m eagerly anticipating the first crisp fall day when I can sit on the couch, under a blanket, for some undisturbed reading time.
Where to find us:
Download episodes of Novel Pairings wherever you get your podcasts. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Find Sara at @fictionmatters and her newsletter. Find me at @chelseyreads or @hereadsheread. We love hearing what you’re reading, so feel free to tag us in your #bookstagram posts!
We declare after all, there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book!
Have a lovely week, everyone!
-Chelsey
